With Change Comes Resistance

The devil doesn’t want you to win. He will distract you, make you busy, flood your mind and heart with worries, all so you may stray off the path God’s told you to walk on — do not give into his tactics.

1 Peter 5:8 says, “ Stay Alert! Watch out for your great enemy the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

Steer away from being the one whom he devours. Keep pursuing God’s heart. Keep running after His presence and His peace. Keep showing up, even when you feel like staying asleep.

The Devil will come using tactics like described in Proverbs 24:33-34, “ A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest — then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.”

If he can’t make you busy, he’ll make you lazy. This is one of the greatest schemes of all, it’s the one that goes like this:

“Oh, I’ll do it tomorrow.”

“Oh I’ll start in the new year.”

“Oh, when I get new friends I’ll start to change.”

The list goes on. I have been a victim of this, I have let things pass me by because I did not feel up to it. And every time I did, I felt like a cheater. God would ask for obedience, and all I did was give him the bare minimum. All because I was distracted; I was more in tune with the devils tactics of busy work and laziness than I was with Gods work and the pursuit of righteousness.

Today I say no more. No more to listening to the prowling lion, instead its time to act out what Ephesians 6 says.

“ A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all the strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of Gods armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.” v 10-14

As I was reading in my devotional it said, “Anytime you commit to some sort of spiritual endeavor, life conspires against you, begging the question “ How much do you really want this?””

And that’s what I’m asking you today,

How much do you really want this?

What have you been putting on hold because the devil has you distracted?

We’re called to this battle — a battle of righteousness. And when we enter the war, we will face opposition, no doubt about it, but our reaction to the schemes is what will carry us.

With Change, Comes Resistance, and I’m all here for it if it means I’m gonna become who He’s called me to be. But I can’t forget, and you can’t forget, that it’s not with our own strength we conquer, but with His strength.

Consistency is key. Be consistent in the Lords work and not the devils busy work.
